Dr. Nace Lanier, ICF Certified Coach

Which comes first, the brand or the blog? The blog or the brand? This was the central question of my onboarding sessions with Dr. Nace Lanier. He had both an executive coaching business to brand, and a personal story to tell. Common thought would dictate, “Brand first! You can always blog later.” How hard can it be to decide?

Mood Board

In Nace’s case, the decision was extremely hard. The story was about his son’s courageous fight with pediatric cancer. After a few attempts to move ahead with branding, it was clear: the blog came first. Nace needed to write. We hit the brakes on branding, threw up a landing page, and became storytellers for 10 months. The result was a 50-entry blog Gravitas, chronicling Josiah’s cancer fight and Nace’s personal reflections as a father, leading his family through grief. Now that the story is fully told, the next step is to publish a book to share with others, helping them in their struggles and trials.

For me, it has been an honor to be a part of both projects. We are currently back to branding for his business, and will be launching a full site soon… Stay tuned!

Brand Imagery

Dr. Lanier specializes in helping executive pastors, CEOs, business owners, and cancer warriors, nationwide. To meet him, you would have no idea of his personal story, because he starts coaching sessions with a joke or song. (Mostly 90s ballads, resulting in him laughing on the other side of the phone.) By the end of your time, you have every idea of his story. He weaves his depth and transparency into his coaching method, and clients quickly realize the power of his testimony. By building personal and professional relationships, Nace creates a safe space to do the hard work of executive leadership that is not just urgent but important. He sharpens the performance of his clients, making him a sought-after coach at the executive level.
