Favorite Things: BetterLife Cleaning Products

Long before their debut on Shark TankBetter Life cleaning products bettered our life. And we are excited to shout this from our countertops! We first met the Better Life team in 2013. They were sharing their new product at Earth Day in St. Louis. I was so impressed, I left with samples and their all-purpose cleaner. That was over four years ago, and we remain loyal today.

Better Life was created by two dads in St. Louis, not a large chemical company. The products are non-toxic, plant-based cleaners and have zero fumes or residue. The products have served us well and we have used over ten products from the entire line.

Our top 5 favorites:

  1. All Purpose Cleaner. This is truly an all-purpose product. We use it on every counter surface except for fine woods. We have also used it on the mirrors, floors, carpet (in a pinch), deck furniture, baby toys, and even clothing stains. The original name for this product was Whatever. And truly, it can clean whatever.

  2. Stain and Odor Eliminator. No matter much dried spit up and dirt stains I throw at this spray, it does not disappoint. I love this product so much I have one spray bottle on each floor of the house.

  1. Wood Polish. We are big on vintage furniture, and maintaining their finishes. The wood cleaner not only did an excellent job cleaning each piece before use, but it’s mild enough for daily cleaning.

  2. Kitchen and Bath Scrubber. This has an extremely mild grit, but is so great for scrubbing stovetops, pans and even occasional re-surfacing of marble countertops.

  3. Stainless Steel Polish. Excellent for little handprints allllllll over our stainless appliances.

Peace of mind for parents

During our move last summer, we used up the last few drops of a bleach-based bathroom cleaner. In the midst of the crazy, our 2-year old grabbed the bottle and sprayed it towards his face. By the grace of God, he avoided injury. But not without having to flush his eyes as a precaution. (Ever asked a toddler to calmly hold still while you pour water into their eyes for several minutes?) We realized how important it was to use non-toxic cleaners. (Check out their appearance on Shark Tank where they sprayed the product in their mouth. True story.)

How do they stack up?

For a quick baseline, we did check them out on ewg, a super handy tool for vetting products. Many of the Better Life cleaners received an A rating. For those that did not, we looked at the itemized report (which we recommend doing for all products), and were still very happy with the product based on the information supplied.
